CTP/PVI CAS # 17796-82-6

N-(cyclohexylthio)-phthalimide (CTP) or PVI is an anti-scorching agent. N-(cyclohexylthio)-phthalimide (CTP) or PVI can also be described as an pre-vulcanization inhibitor enabling control of process safety in Sulphur curable compounds. The inhibitor delays the onset of vulcanization with little or no influence on curing characteristics or vulcanization properties. N-(cyclohexylthio)-phthalimide (CTP) or PVI is useful for improving plant processing efficiency; operations like mixing, calendering, extruding and molding. In addition, N-(cyclohexylthio)-phthalimide (CTP) or PVI provides improved storage stability and can be useful in single stage mixing and recovery of partially scorched compounds.

N-(cyclohexylthio)-phthalimide (CTP) or PVI is most effective with Sulphenamide accelerators. It can also be used with Thiazoles, Guanidines, Thiurams and Dithiocarbamates. N-(cyclohexylthio)-phthalimide (CTP) or PVI is non-staining but may give slight discoloration in light colored or white articles. The activity of N-(cyclohexylthio)-phthalimide (CTP) or PVI is dependent on the type of polymer. In decreasing order of activity: NR, NBR, SBR, EPDM, IIR, CR.

N-(cyclohexylthio)-phthalimide (CTP) or PVI is available as:

  • Crystal Powder
  • Granule easy for automatic weighing
  • Oil Coated Powder Avoiding powder agglomeration during storage and delivery, for good dispersion during mixing.
  • Filler Coated Powder Avoiding powder from blocking during storage and delivery.

N-(cyclohexylthio)-phthalimide (CTP) or PVI is used for the production of tyres, hoses and belts.
