Sustainable Products and Services
We give priority to sustainability in our trade and distribution practices by aiming to provide solutions to customers which minimize the environmental footprint. This can be achieved by aligning the supply chain effectively and efficiently, but also by offering products with a more environmental friendly character.
Partnerships for sustainable development imply that teamwork and knowledge sharing is a requirement to be successful. The Joss culture fits into this model, with ownership, flexibility and teamwork being important values which we recognize. These values incorporate an inclusive, fair and respectful environment. Our Code of Conduct also supports these guidelines.
Our corporate strategy includes KPI’s to stimulate the development of sustainable products and services and reduce environmental impact.
Carbon Reduction Initiatives
At Joss, reducing carbon emissions is an important part of our sustainability strategy. Our approach includes optimizing logistics in our regular business and moreover offering environmentally friendly or bio-based products. We participate in partnerships to market these innovative solutions from our suppliers to our customers. In order to implement a Carbon Reduction initiative, a tailor made approach is important. We assist companies with sustainable, green tools with a very low (or even negative) CO2 footprint to achieve the performance properties and commercial challenges. We can achieve this only by being dedicated, knowledge driven and focussed on the tasks at hand and to be pragmatical on implementing solutions.
Examples of partnerships are:
- Membership and participation to the IRSG and SNR-I forums in order to align requirements in the Natural Rubber and Latex segment.
- Membership and participation to the Dutch “Vereniging van Kunststof en Rubber Technologen” (VKRT) and German “Wirtschaftsverband der Deutschen Kautschukindustrie e.V.” (WDK) in order to participate and contribute to industry events.
- Membership in CIRCUROAD with the objective to implement Sustainable, Circulair and Bio-Based asphalt. In this sector, Dutch CO2-emissions must be reduced by 55% in the year 2030 and with 100% in the year 2050. Joss has been active in the international paving and roofing industry for many years and can positively contribute on knowledge, network and products.
- Participation in a Joint Venture in a Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) technology, which provides a solution for excess Biomass and transform these into Biochar. This technology is a key parameter to reduce CO2 emissions on a large scale. This cooperation stimulates the involvement of local municipalities and communities by offering jobs, knowledge and a positive future outlook.
Circular Economy
Our efforts include sourcing products that align with circular principles and offering solutions that extend product life cycles. By embedding these practices into our operations, we aim to reduce environmental impact and create a positive cycle of resource use that benefits both our partners and the planet.
We are committed to source products from suppliers who adhere to sustainable practices. We stimulate and work with our suppliers to ensure they meet environmental standards and promote sustainable practices throughout the supply chain. Together with our suppliers, we aim to improve energy efficiency in warehouse operations, transportation, and other facilities, and stimulate the use of renewable energy sources.
